CEO’s Welcome: A Letter From Sharon

I want to welcome you personally to The Revivor Foundation. I’m Sharon Boyd, and everything you see here grows from something deeply personal. I didn’t set out to build something polished and distant. I started this foundation because I saw, again and again, how many people carry pain quietly, how many families try to hold everything together without enough support, and how easily people can feel overlooked when life becomes too heavy. As a child and youth mental health charity, our work begins with people, not systems, and that matters to me more than I can say.
There are times when just getting through the day feels like an achievement in itself. You may know that feeling yourself, or you may see it in your child, your family, or someone close to you. Over the years, I’ve met so many people who feel exhausted, unheard, and as though they have had to be strong for far too long. That is exactly why this foundation means so much to me. I want you to feel that when you come here, you are met with warmth. I want you to know your story matters, and that support can still feel kind, personal, and real.

What Thrive 2 Survive Means to Me
When I talk about Thrive 2 Survive, I’m talking about something very simple, but very important to me. Sometimes survival is where you begin, and I think there is real courage in that. There are seasons in life when getting through the day, asking for help, or simply keeping going takes everything you have. I never want to gloss over that, because I know how hard those moments can be.
At the same time, I never want survival to be the whole story for you. What I want, always, is something gentler and more hopeful on the other side of it. I want you to have the chance to heal, to feel calmer in yourself, to feel stronger in your relationships, and to believe that life can open up again. I want that for your child, for your family, and for the community around you as well.
That belief shapes the way I want this foundation to feel. I want it to be a place where you can speak openly about mental health without feeling judged, where neurodiverse children and young people are understood with patience and care, and where families feel supported rather than blamed. We do not rush you through the hard parts. We stay alongside you and take things one step at a time, because lasting support is rarely about quick answers. More often, it is about feeling safe enough to begin.

Why There Is No Equality in Inequality
Meeting You Where You Are
One of the beliefs at the heart of everything I do is this: there is no equality in inequality. I come back to those words often because they say, very simply, why The Revivor Foundation exists. People do not all begin from the same place, and they do not all face the same barriers. Some children grow up surrounded by support, while others are trying to make sense of trauma, poverty, loss, neurodiversity, anxiety, or the quiet exhaustion that comes from feeling misunderstood for too long. If you assume everyone needs the same answer, you miss the truth of people’s lives.
For me, fairness has never meant handing everyone something identical and hoping it fits. It means taking the time to understand what you need and shaping support in a way that genuinely helps. That matters so much in our work, because no two children, young people, or families experience life in exactly the same way.
Listening matters. Looking beyond the surface matters. Making room for different needs, different experiences, and different ways of coping matters too. When you feel seen properly, trust starts to grow, and from there real change becomes possible. That is the kind of support I believe in, and it is the standard I hold close in everything we do.

The Kind of Support I Believe In
Connection Before Everything Else
The longer I do this work, the more certain I become that people do not need cold systems or carefully chosen empty words. What you need is connection. You need to feel believed. You need practical help, safe spaces, and the sense that someone is genuinely willing to sit beside you in the difficult moments rather than speak at you from a distance. That is why our work stretches across mental health, trauma, neurodiversity, and family wellbeing. It is also why I care so deeply about building something that brings charities, families, and funders together around one shared purpose.
If you are a parent, I want you to feel understood rather than judged. If you are struggling yourself, I want you to know you do not have to carry everything alone. If you are part of a local charity, I want you to know we believe in working together, not competing for space. And if you are a funder, I want you to be able to see the heart behind every step we take and every life we are trying to reach.
To me, this foundation belongs to community. It grows through relationships, trust, and the willingness to show up for one another in ways that actually make sense in real life. You can explore more of our work on our services page, read kind words on our testimonials page, or support our mission through our fundraising page. And if you simply want to reach out, you can visit our contact page. Very often, one message is where things begin to shift.

A Welcome That Is Open to You
You Are Welcome Here as You Are
I want this welcome to feel exactly that: open, genuine, and easy to step into. You do not need to arrive with the right words, and you do not need to explain everything perfectly before you deserve support. You do not need to tidy up the difficult parts of your life before you reach out. You are welcome here as you are. That matters to me deeply, because too many people spend years believing they have to fit in, hold everything together, or stay quiet until they are somehow easier to help.
What I hope you feel, more than anything, is that you can breathe a little more deeply when you find us. I want The Revivor Foundation to be a place of healing, courage, and belonging. I want it to be a place where you can move from crisis into confidence, where children feel safer, where families feel supported, and where communities grow stronger because nobody is expected to face life alone.
Thank you for being here and for taking the time to read this. Whether you have found us in a moment of need or in a moment of hope, I’m genuinely glad our paths have crossed. You can visit our home page, learn more about us, or read our latest blog posts whenever you’re ready.
